a half million for a diesel electric is most likely below scrap value.
as with any large, complicated, expensive machine, "cheap" for a nuclear sub is a relative term- you might be able to find one for a few million- a tiny fraction of the $8 Billion a new one costs- but the upkeep costs of a nuclear reactor are not, by anyone's standards, cheap.
go for the diesel electric. They come up routinely for between $500,000 and a million dollars- which is far far less than a pleasure boat of similar size would sell for.
