[TheForge] bending

I've got a manual roller that we've used successfully to bend cap rail
and small channel iron that were then welded together to form a handrail
for a curved staircase. It is slow and the curve is somewhat trial and
error. Helps if the rail fits the dies.
On the other hand, I've also got a couple of Hossfeld benders and I use
these all the time to bend stuff, including handrails. I've never bent
tubing with them but I've got a bunch of dies for various types of
tubing. There are videos on the net of Hossfelds being used for this.
Again, it helps if you have the proper dies. I bought dies for a
5/8x2-1/4" solid handrail bar this year for a job. The dies really
simplified the project and kept the bar from deflecting out of shape (I
was bending it hot the "hard way" or on the flat).
If you could find someone close to you with either of these gadgets,
they would likely let you experiment since you say you only have one
bend to make.
