[TheForge] High performance vehicles- was Table Saw Law

Remember the rest of what I wrote? It isn't the vehicle it's the lack of
sense directing it that's the danger. Think of a vehicle like a deadly
weapon, the only distinction being most vehicles aren't designed for
lethality. Still, more people are killed by vehicles than "weapons" so it's
a fiddly point. Anyhow, my point being, there is no such thing as a deadly
weapon, it's the person behind it that's deadly same for vehicles.

All that AND your example speaks to my point, make it HARD to get a license
and keep it. Oh yeah, your point 2. Truth is you WILL yield to superior
inertia. See your last point.

ABS brakes were designed for folk who think the proper response to ANY
emergency is tromp the brake pedal to the floor. NO number of drive wheels
will keep this person out of trouble. Ever watch a program with people
skidding out of control on an icy hill? In every instance the last thing you
see before they lose control is the brake lights.

Before SUVs got the tag it was mini vans. I could write pages of examples of
people who are dangerous at any speed.

Frostig, I was on another List, and made a passing comment about how
SUVs ought to be banned for most people. I got a response from a lady,
on the List, about how wonderful her SUV was. She had been driving
home from Albany in the previous weekend's heavy snow fall, and she
said, and I quote, "Oh, SUVs are wonderful. I was driving home last
weekend in our SUV, at 45 mph, and we had 0 visibility."

I rest my case.

I like SUVs.
I've been driving them for years, long before they became as popular
as they are, but the problem with them is that most of the idiots
driving them don't understand 2 things-

1. They may GO in bad weather where a 2wd vehicle won't, but they
don't SROP any faster than a 2wd vehicle.

2. Just because they're larger than most vehicles, they don't have
more right-of-way than other vehicles.

Ford has a cute comment on their websites:

" Remember that even advanced technology cannot overcome the laws of
physics."
