Don't confuse me with the facts, I've already made up my mind.
In my little open-air shop I use 100-300 watt equiv CFL's for general area
light and it's fine. They screw into standard fixtures and I use them all
year with no issues- it's nice not to have to change bulbs, too, since the
floor of my shop is cluttered enough that dragging a ladder in is something
I really don't want to do.
My Bro-in-law is in the renewable energy business, he brought a 300w equiv
CFL (yes, it screws into a standard fixture) back from central America for
me- it's over my platen table. Unlike here, such things are fairly cheap
and widely available in poorer countries.
Not uncommon at all for Latin Americans to mention how much more freedom
they enjoy in some ways than we do.
Halogens over and around the blade grinder, and incandescents only show up
on dimmer circuits in the house.
"shrug" I don't know what the fuss is about.
