But I would like to point out there are all kinds of things you cant buy anymore, and a whole bunch of things you CAN buy now you didnt used to be able to.

Rather than get your panties all in a wad about what "they" are doing, I find its a lot more healthful just to figger out a way to get along with what you can get.

Stuff you cant buy anymore, but once could-

Human Beings
Leaded Gasoline
Cocaine
Plutonium
Dynamite over the counter at the hardware store
Absinthe
Cuban Cigars
LSD
Whale Oil
Elephant Ivory
Real oil impregnated Masonite
1/4" rebar

Stuff you can buy now, that used to be illegal or impossible-
GPS
Tropic of Cancer, by Henry Miller
Plasma cutters
Personal computers

I am sure we could come up with lots more, in both categories.

Me, I would much rather be able to buy unpasteurized cheese (the good stuff) and Spanish ham, both of which are illegal to import into the USA, than incandescent lightbulbs- which, by the way, are NOT illegal in any way, they are just going to be making fewer of them. The market, I would guess, will respond by raising the price. But they will still be legal, and you can still buy em if you want.
