Mostly because it is pretty well documented already, and I don't deal with
or care about wikipedia as it is a terribly inaccurate source of
information. There are a ton of people making wootz around the country, and
still a lot of it being made by tribal societies. There are several articles
on the rediscovery of true Damascus steel available on the interwebs.

link on google with the search term "damascus steel".

Why don't you guys contribute this info (with references, preferably) to
Wikipedia?  The article there on Wootz Steel is minimal.
