[TheForge] Renaissance Wax questions

hello;

several members of theforge have all ready received ia more complete
description of the items. i do not feel comfortable about posting
certain details in the "wild".

the silver items in question are a silver setting made somewhere around
1840 in the uk. a silversmith that one of the crew is dating, she places
it in that time period based on the stamps on the larger items. the
stamps where not seen before 1839 and where not seen much after 1850.

it is tea service set, silverware for 8 place settings, four
candelabra/candlesticks, a water pitcher, a milk pitcher, two salt
cellars with spoons, there are two dozen name tags on small chains which
would hang on liquer bottles. whiskey, bourbon, sherry, cognac, brandy,
etc.

it is all stored in a wood chest specifically built to store the items.

it is not ornate by any definition. the entire set is rather plain.
simple curves. nothing to write home about.

i would like to display it but the problem is it is tarnishing. hiding
it away sort of defeats the skill that the original silversmith had put
into creating the items.

several members have suggested using Renaissance Wax to slow down the
tarnishing to where it may only have to be cleaned once a year.

would the silver have to have the Renaissance Wax removed before it were
used for food service or for afternoon tea?

is there a fornula of Renaissance Wax that is food safe?
