[TheForge] Brainstorming -- Trouble with trees (OT)

There's nothing inherently wrong or hairbrained about your ideas Bruce. I
don't know of any robots or rov trimmers but a feller buncher is a darned
safe and sure way to kill trees and there are rubber tired models. The
helicopter mounted vertical limb trimmers are on safty release and clutches
so they won't drag a helo out of the sky. I'm pretty sure though they aren't
the tool for beside the house.
Maple is one of the most dangerous trees there are, especially vine maples.
They have unpredictable grain and they're VERY resilient, organic main
springs that is, even bucking slash can do you a fatal mischief. It's an
occasion hiring pros is probably called for. If you don't cut lots of trees
AND have experience with maple there's NO maybe about it.
The ROV sounds interesting in the extreme and fun to boot. A while ago I saw
pics of a limber buncher that walks and can climb, it looks like a demented
insect with a cab and guy wearing a hardhat.
