hello;

what i have been calling nylon is not nylon. it is either braided
cotton or linen cable sleeve. the braided material is impregnated with
various substances. some was painted, some was lacquered, some was
soaked in wax (paraffin). given the age of the equipment the braided
cable sleeve was dried out to some degree.

i will have to make more use of the video inspection camera to
supplement my old eyes.
