PS: as for material, if it is a critical part - by that I mean that if 
it fails you risk loss of life, limb, or capital equipment, hire an 
engineer to investigate and make a recommendation, assuming you cannot 
go to the manufacturer and ask them.  Or maybe try ebay. :)
