_______<--> Could the anvil be put on an extended arm like the bed tray
holders used in the hospital? That way he could

a couple of locking swivels.

If the fella can stand, a rail set up around the anvil for him to lean
against is the best IMHO. I have a brother in a wheel chair and there
is no good place to put an anvil. Many modern wheel chairs have
electric controls set up to be conveniently placed, but this also makes
them in the exact wrong place for swinging anything.

The best solution we have found is a welding blanket in the lap and all
over everything, but that gets very hot. And the individual may not
have heat sensitivity in the areas which need it, particularly if
something hot falls.

There are a lot of things that may be made cold forging....... And then
relieving the stresses.....

Please keep us appraised of what happens. There is interest.

Quite some time ago there was a thread on TheForge on setting up a shop
to
teach handicapped students and . There's a man in our guild who is
striving to help a wheel-chair bound friend get into blacksmithing, and
possibly do something for the Wounded Warrior project.

What have you found works? (shop layout, anvil position)

How do you protect the person and their wheel chair?

Where can we go for more information?
