Well, my friend who lived for ca. 40 years near Fairbanks reported
that people in his neighborhood diverted the exhaust pipe up through
the pickup's floor behind the seat to a transverse muffler in the cab
where the gun rack might otherwise go, then out through the roof to a
stack exhaust. All joints welded to avoid risk of exhaust fume leaks
with muffler clamps.
I'd been quietly wondering why that wasn't done and why they put the radiator itself
anywhere other than in the cab...good.
Even in Western Mass (where that friend moved on retirement, to get
away from the cold) it drops to 20 below F. and can hang for a
fortnight never getting above 0F. An ordinary core heater in Alaska
might be a pretty Mickey Mouse effort, even with an insulated cab.
OT? Wellll, I *did* mention welding....
