Let's not ban any guns. Let's not even ban large magazines.
Let's just bring modern guns into line with the intentions of the
writers of the Constitution: Reduce their rate of fire to once or
twice a minute -- like a flintlock.
Against an armed man, an unarmed man has NO chance. Reduce the rate
of fire, and he might have a chance. Why should my life be predicated
upon the whim of somebody who happens to be packing when I'm not?
Give me 30 seconds to cover the space between me and a shooter, and
things will be a mite more equal.
The various videos on "semi"automatic weapons are very instructive.
They equate powerful guns with manliness. They do this in gun ads.
You can't be a man without a gun. These people use bullets because
they have no real balls.
The NRA has it wrong. Guns kill people. They are not for
self-defense. They are not for defense at all. They may be used for
counter-offense, but that is NOT the same as defense.
The NRA wants people to buy more and more guns. Nothing makes them
happier than murder -- especially mass murder -- because it keeps
people scared and scared people buy guns. Why do we condone a
domestic arms race?
