Andy,
Ryan forges a lot of bronze.  He says bronze does not respond to heat and 
quench as copper does.  Heat to dull red, too hot and you will have a liquid 
puddle in the bottom of the forge. Stop when it feels stiff. I forgot to ask 
what alloy they typically use in the shop, Steve Lopes Blacksmith.  Your 
results may vary, so try it and tell us what you learn.
