The volume of a light bulb can be determined to an arbitrary precision
using Green's Theorem. Green's specifies double integration, but that
will only determine the sectional area. God knows I've forgotten more
calculus that ever shall I again know or care to know, but IIRC a thord
integration will sweep the 2-D area into three dimensions about a chosen
axis. If I am wrong, sue me.
No, I have no link to any articles. I'm working from corroded and
bit-failed memory.
