[TheForge] Mower vs boot scraper

Easier to get a complete short block ... you spend more for the assembly,
but spend less labor installing and get a longer repair. Also a good time
to add anew carb (cheap). Check the Briggs site for their engine-exchange
section, put in your engine number, the part for the sblock for your engine
should display, You can get it and the parts you need from a local LG
engine source if in / near a moderate size or larger city

In my day job I support the Sears LG (Lawn & Garden) field techs doing this
kinda thing ... the comments about the damaged bearings / seals & flywheel
key are spot on. Once a crank is bent from impact, consider it a lost
cause.

Been there, done that.

But if the crankshaft is bent your seals are going to hell in no time flat.
In extreme instances, the bearings get buggered up pretty good as well.
Perhaps it is worth messing with if he can find a good crank from a junked
engine.
