I was trimming around the shop yesterday. When I came to the door my wife
had set her goat grain bucket in the way as she does when she wants me to
fill it. Well I tried to move the bucket with one hand while holding on to
the mower with the other. My attention was brought back to the mower when I
heard it hit the boot scraper and stop cold. I tried to restart it but it
would hardly turn over. When I checked it this morning the crank was bent.
I straightened it with a bucking bar and sledge hammer. It turns free now
but when it fires makes a funny noise.
It made a huge gash in the mild steel boot scraper, with hardly a nick in
the blade, but I think the mower is done. I got the mower in 87 when we
moved to St. Louis, so it had a good run. It hasn't had much use since we
moved to the farm in 98, most of the mowing is done on the rider. Pretty
good service from a 3.5 hp brigs.
