That's what I use for my "flame" hooks - 1/4" square 'J' hooks with 
the top mashed into a flame shape (not a leaf 'cause there are no 
veins).  Not drilling means no burrs and no explaining what an 
electric drill is doing at a Faire or re-enactment.
