[TheForge] bridge

Don't kid yourself. The Port Authority has been selling bridges to
commuters over and over again for years and years, now. And they just
raised the price. Selling bridges one doesn't own is only illegal
when the citizens do it; govt. does it all the time.
Even more reason, IMO, to stay out of the city. The good news is that
I now qualify for senior fares on NJ Transit -- quite a bit cheaper to
take the train, not that I do that much.
With tolls being what they are, I wonder how long it will be till
someone realizes you could finance an amphibious car for commuters and
come out ahead. You'd need boat ramps on both sides of the Hudson or
East River, but those show up on the navigational charts.
New Castle is on the wrong end of PA from me. Besides, the bridge was
corrugated steel. I want a wrought iron one. It was 50' long. I
wonder if that's too big to winch onto the back of a flat-bed truck,
cover with tarps, and drive away? It's so messy to have to cut them
up on site.
