Link didn't work for me -- but sounds like BAD news if you ever want to
paint the steel. Silicon oil products (defoamer for example) create real
problems because you can't get them cleaned off the product once on and they
prevent paint from sticking.

Guys,
Check this out...
"Ross Technology Corp is a company that specializes in steel products
including non-slip flooring, security, and racks. For the tech enthusiast,
that may sound a little boring, but then you hear about a byproduct of a
solution they came up with to stop their steel products corroding.
Metal corrodes when it comes into contact with liquid such as water, so Ross
engineers set about coming up with a coating to keep liquid away from the
steel. What they ended up with is a silicon-based spray that not only kept
steel dry, it could also be applied to many different surfaces and
materials."

It looks like it's non-steel uses may be a bigger deal.
