I know the stove you're talking about, because we discussed them before on
this list. I think they call them something like a reclaimation stove.
Because they burn the secondary volatiles that a wood stove usually releases
into the chimney. This keeps the flue clean and safer from flue fires.

That's close but not quite the name and I'm pet sitting and don't have time
to do a web search and find out. My version is a little different because I
love vortices so the annulus between the wood chamber and the outer shell is
narrow and close with the hot exhaust gasses flowing in a tight vortex with
enough added air to keep burning till combustion is complete. Heat is
divided between the outer shell and radiated into the room or heat
exchangers while the other "half" heats and pyrolizes the wood. If I don't
need charcoal I can let it burn carbon gas and continue till there's nothing
but ash.
