I don't imagine you'd get off so easy on the cost of materials or, for
that matter, on the cost of laser cutting, if you were using sheet
metal.  OTOH, you wouldn't, these days, have to find an automated laser
(or water/abrasive?) cutting rig on your block.  You could ship the
patterns or just numerical data over the net to Singapore or Port
Moresby or wherever.
