Dont know about HY120 but HY130 has been around since the early 60's and it has been in development for use in submarine applications for a long time. Originally the Seawolf (SSN-21) was to be HY 130 but it was too difficult to weld and too expensive so the fall back was HY100. I don't know if it has ever been used for a submarine hull. All the HY series are tough to weld without cracking and it seems that practical use is currently limited at HY100. The Virginia class returned to the use of HY80 steel.
