Actually, it is some form of compressed wood that is subject to high
temperatures and extreme pressure during the forming process. All of the places
that have been decimated by the weather has a bazillion pounds of wood that can
be turned into this stuff. I saw something on the international news about this
stuff, it looked interesting. BTW it is black.
