[TheForge] electrolysis

Wolley,

Bolt is just an example; a customer wants some oyster knives made of rr
spikes with guards. The plan was to use some big washers for the guards.
Someone gave them to me and I did burn the zinc off a few with a gasser
outside but still had to take them to the belt grinder to make them look
decent. He was happy with my prototype, but it would be more economical
to just go to the washer store and buy some black iron washers.

There is another project involving a 12" ceramic power line insulator on
which I can't use heat to remove the zinc from the center. Is your
curiosity assuaged? (-:[>

Just curious, why do you want to remove it? Is it an unusual bolt? I
would think acid would work but don't know what concentration etc. IMHO
burning it off would not be that dangerous if done outdoors.
