I'd still like to know what in hell happened.  Much as I hate to admit 
it, Jerry's too smart to do something obviously stupid.  Maybe

At any rate, if a big tree giving it to him in the kisser could not kill 
him, I suspect nothing will and the list will be stuck with him for at 
least another thousand years.
