So you really want to hear about this tedious computer stuff I've been
doing? Nahh....
Hows about laying on my back welding up patches to the rusty doors on
our car so they'll safety inspect it? Nahhh...
Forking all that manure into.... Nahhh...
Well, here's one little tiddly bit. I've been trying to run down the
guy at Alldays Peacock (the current incarnation of Alldays & Onions)
who was so helpful when I was just starting on refurbishing the 300#
hammer. Seems the company has, since that time, been borged by a
German company and every{thing, body} has disappeared behind some kind
of corporate barrier. Apparently there's no longer any interest, at
least no public-facing interest, in 80 year old hammers or the
since-1625 history and traditions of the company.
Inspiration! I posted to uk.rec.sheds [1] soliciting assistance in
locating the guy at Alldays who was so helpful, in order to send him
pointers to pics on the net and say thank you.
Well, I was kindly received despite being left-pondian, assistance was
offered, things are in progress, no results to report yet, but that's
another story.
Having posted URLs to pics of the hammer, I became gradually aware
that my (relatively) new shop [2] was rather too grand, not to say
grandiose, to qualify as a "shed" under the somewhat arcane (mystic?)
terms of the newsgroup's regulars. In order to establish my
credentials and maintain my bona fides as a legit poster to said
newsgroup, I dug up a pic of my first shop. [3]
Perhaps the photo will be entertaining, Frosty, break up the
monotonous, repetitive and fruitless hitting of the FetchMail button
and make you feel better about your spectacular new shop, which
should be warm enough to use any month now. :-)
