Well, I can see that. But, OTOH, that's why I generally stick to hand
hammers, and dress my anvil with a magnet under the horn. Usually, the
most noise you'll hear in my shop is me cussing (cussing being a
requirement for getting anything to come out right, as I learned long
ago on auto repairs ;-)
Seriously, though, safety is quite rightly a concern for any of us in
our shops. There are several ways to approach it, and, as with
smithing, different methods may work, as long as they're carefully
thought out. Me, I feel better being able to move fast without a bunch
of safety stuff weighing me down. Quite possibly, if I were using
different smithing equipment, I might feel differently.
