Terry,
We have been in survival mode since I quit my computer job to be a 
blacksmith in 2000.  Most of our income comes from my pension which I 
started to draw three years after making the switch. The rest comes from 
blacksmithing which is or has been selling stuff at craft shows and 
reenactments.  This year we start Social Security so we are cutting back on 
the number of events we do.  I also have a wholesale buyer that has become a 
bigger part of the plan the last couple years.  I do some custom work, but 
don't really like the hassle of the process, meetings, bids, proposals, 
instulation.  If I had a front man to do all the project management I would 
enjoy the blacksmithing part of custom work.
