Question: if you could have ONLY a power hammer or a press, which would 
you choose?  Why?


I would definitely start with a power hammer, as you can do a lot of quick, intuitive work with it, and you can build tooling that will do more complicated stuff.
But sooner or later, you are going to want and need both.
I use my press a lot less than my hammer, but when I need it, I need it.
