Enerpac and Power Team make most of their systems and pumps at 10,000 psi. It makes for more compact systems at higher tonnage. One problem with 10,000 psi is that the cost of the components is greater and it is harder to cobble together a system from scrounged parts as most commercial hydraulics systems are much lower pressure. 2000-3000 psi is common with an occasional 5000 psi system. Another problem is pump speed for forging, you are going to need a large 10,000 psi pump. New, these size pumps are $8,000 $15,000 range devices and rare to find on the used market. The more common small pumps will take forever to extend and retract the cylinder.
