Good point.  About the poison, not the testicles.

What is needed is a knock-out w/o kill, as if you could put knock-out
drops in some meat bait.  When the bait is taken, you go out looking
for the culprit.  If you find an unconscious coyote, you finish him
off with a bullet.  If it's somebody's dog, you let him sleep it off
(and maybe move him out of harms way while sleeping).  Probably not
that simple in real life, though.
