Ok, I have one of those infra red motion detectors installed again this year. I used to have an alarm type, but the new one is one that turns on a light when something moves (with the lights removed). I have it wired to click a relay in the bedroom. The relay turns on a buzzer. When the buzzer sounds in the night, I look out my bedroom window and shoot what is out there. My shooting area (and the area monitored by the sensor) is illuminated by a 60 W klieg clip on light. My window is opened at bed time and a wood window slipped into place. The critters will hear and see me opening a regular window. In the wood window I have a small door which I can open quietly and rest the rifle on the edge of the opening.
The buzzer is in a drawer and has an off switch. Otherwise they can hear the buzzer when I open the window.
A few years ago I pretty much cleared out the night eaters in my area. I found that they hunt in different areas and only return to an area every 4-5 days.
If you wish a schematic or pictures or anything. Shoot me an email (or anyone else who might need it). It is simple for the non-electrically inclined.
Good luck.

TS has some good breeds in terms of eggs. We got a dozen last year to
replenish those that god damned golden eagle ate (I WILL shoot that
sumbitch one day) and they are laying very large eggs. The geese are
laying as well. Hope they survive this year. All the eggs went bad,
save one, last year due to the high heat. The one that hatched was
promptly eaten by something in the night. It makes me angry so I don't
think about it.
