When I was in High school they built a nuke near where we lived.  Part of 
the safty for the plant was they put in a lake so that if there was a 
problem they could flood the core, by opening valves on the dam.  It kind of 
surprises me that so many of the new nukes rely on pumps for their emergency 
cooling.
