My guess is that, if that bit of the linkage is that badly worn,
then the rest of the linkage has got to also have significant wear.
As you know, that kind of slop is cumulative in effect.
At some point you are going to get frustrated
and rework all the linkage parts...i betcha.
This blacksmith divination was result of painstaking interpretations
of the shapes of your last clinkers.
