I don't worry about electric speed control on my electric blown forge, I put 
a choke on the intake. Throttling the air in a centrifigul blower reduces 
the power needed to turn it so the motor runs cooler and if the motor does 
NOT depend on the blower for cooling air you're golden. Heck, my centrifigul 
blower had screws in just the right places to hinge the choke plates and 
oneside has to have a slot to pass the motor shaft so the blast is never 
choked all the way off.

Oh yeah, I got the blower fan at a garage, maybe yard sale many years ago as 
part of a box of junk for maybe $5.00, I con't recall. Heck, I was 
interested in a couple other items in the box so the fan was a freeby I 
guess.
