[TheForge] Brake Drum forge

I;ll add that even if you don't have welding gear, you can cut the square hole in mild steel plate with a cold chisel and some determination.
Alternately, mix some common fire clay ( ideally , but any natural clay will do) with sand, ashes, and mold it in place over some metal mesh, or even bailing wire.
I saw a guy make a forge out of cardboard! He lined it with clay mud mixed with ashes. Worked surprisingly well. Just control the excess water you use managing the fire.
Historically, many forges were just a pit in the ground with a tunnel in the side for air , pumped by an old hide.
It can be real rude and work just fine.
