There is a reason for that.  I used to manage 7-11s for a decade.  They 
pay quite a bit to buy good quality beans, and have very strict hold 
times.  No more than 15 minutes for regular, and no more than 20 for 
decaf.  They do dump a lot of coffee, but they want to bring in people who 
expect to get good coffee every time.
