[TheForge] whiskey barrels

The comment about the Scotch made me recall that years ago when I
started this blacksmithing venture, I ordered a couple of whiskey
barrels from some place in Kentucky. My intent was to saw them in half
and make a slack tub, coal bin and flower pots. There was a note with
the barrels upon delivery, it said to be careful when you knocked the
bung out of the barrels as there might be some left over liquor inside
that they called "grape extract". Sure enough, I drained out a little
over a quart of a purple-ish looking liquid, full of burnt oak chunks.
I strained the mess thru coffee filters a few times and got it fairly
clean. I still have it in my liquor cabinet and only bring it out on
occasion to let someone "smell" it as it sure does have a good odor. I
did taste it and it is a bit on the "green" side for me. If I were
still a teenager I would have mixed it with coke but those days are long
since gone.

sells.
 >He did not specify what kind of scotch, however!
