 Oh Geeze Jerry;
That puppy is way too enthusiastic...
I'd an elderly uncle in NY who had his apartment broken into
and they stole his old, well used  microscope that he'd bought 50 years .
So he got a bull  puppy that was a puppy mill product. 
It got big , fast, and pulled him down flights of stairs repeatedly.
But it was his companion and he was a loyal guy.
It finally went nuts and had to be put down..
By then he was pretty much crippled.
May your wife recover quickly and yourself as well!
