[TheForge] steel supplies

I am sure they vary by location. Ours tend to be square material -- about
3/16 and much high strength than 1006. These are what I call "yard signs"
and we have lots of them -- even outside of the election cycle. (Check with
your highway deparrtment -- they hate these signs and collect them from time
to time.) In our area the stands for flowers used by funeral homes are
round material (painted green) and also of higher carbon than 1006, 1008 or
even A36. Good stuff if it is free. (For what is worth nail stock used to
be 1008 -- but today most nail are much higher carbon so they work well in
nail guns.)

The signs out here use wire about 3/16 round. Being wire it's probably
around 1006. The ones I got are super soft and weld up reasonably well.
