The anvil used by Wile Coyote in his quest for a repast of roadrunner
was an Acme, probably made by Hay Budden for Sears & Roebuck. Some were
also made by Trenton, so I've heard. There were some physics lessons on
those old cartoons of 50+ years ago. In one episode WC didn't allow for
cable stretch- disastrous results...

yeah, when was the last time you saw an anvil dropped on someone in a
cartoon? Kids these days don't even know what they are.
When some of us (ahem) where kids, cartoons also would commonly
include scenes like blowing soot into a character's face from a small
bellows.
I do some demos in a shop with a large wood and leather bellows and on a
few occasions, I've mentioned that our bellows are a bigger version of
those seen in cartoons. I even a lot of the parents are unfamiliar with
such a device. Too many city folk.
