You don't know the half of it.  When I was doing sterling patterns in 
college for casting houses in the jewelry district, I got quite good at 
using the saw for things it had not originally been intended.  My 
supervisor, a guy named Liu (everyone called him "Leo" because they were 
lazy dumbasses) from Hong Kong could do things with a saw you simply 
would not believe.  He could hold 0.001" tolerances by eye with a 6/0 
blade - didn't even need to go down to 8/0.  He taught me more about how 
to use a jeweler's saw than most jewelers will ever know.  The shop 
(Carbra) was stocked with these Hong Kong boys and their abilities were 
staggering.  I was quite good with a torch, too - have to be to solder a 
  sterling pattern with perhaps 300 joints all within 3/16 of each 
other, but compared with those guys I looked like a rank beginner.
