[TheForge] hacksaw blades

Lynn,

I have an 8 inch power hacksaw to make the blades for it, I buy a box of 50
blades, wire them securely together, then grin thru them at the point that I
want and use a carbide drill to put in the new hold. I think hacksaw blades
are very hard high carbon steel. You may want to try your clock springs instead.

Good Luck,

Jerry

Subject: [TheForge] hacksaw blades

Hello
I annealed a 12" hacksaw blade and then tried to enlarge the hole..  The
blade was brittle and crumbled like peanut brittle.

I needed a short leaf spring to hold a slide bolt from vibrating open.
I am making duplicates for the "Ticonderoga" Lake Champlain Steamboat.

What steel might the hacksaws blade be made from?  I do have broken
clock springs, would this be a better choice?

Thank you
lynn
