Well, I can't agree that it's an east COAST organization.  The 2008
conference was supposed to be on (or near) the east coast and it was
the first in history that was cancelled.  The subsequent conference
was 950 mi. from the east coast - half that distance from the gulf
coast, an 18 hr drive by superhighway from me.

I dropped out of ABANA after attending the 1998 conference.  By any
reckoning, the local conferences were a better deal.  Less travel &
expense.  Lower admission fee.  Fewer things going on so you can see a
greater percentage of them.  Local tailgating with lower  travel
expenses and hence charges (often, not always).
