If you're making your own water heater, furnace, stove, etc. then yes they'd
most probably be illegal and no insurance company is going to cover you. If
you buy a gas forge from a recognized company, say NC or Johnson Appliance
I'm sure you could get a forge okayed so long as you set it up and use it
correctly. Where I live there are no codes at all outside fed and state
codes for water safety, etc. and I never mention my gas forge in the shop or
my coverage would either go away or get realy expensive.
NO sane gvt, organization, etc. wants just anyone making their own gas fired
appliances.
