Cool :) I'd suggest starting with a model; figuring out exactly, or nearly,
what we want to do, but using a variety of different materials or even
sizes, will help a lot. For example, cardboard and tape or glue can help
make a mock-up easier to produce and refine... or sculpey clay... then, as
we narrow down the parameters of our goal, transferring to a different
medium or size can be easier. For example, I can't say whether you should
form sheet metal or cut lengths of tubing or pipe... 'it depends' would be
the short answer. What do you want to do with it, what sort of metal glove?

Some old curmudgeon who meant a lot to me, told me to go make a few thousand
of what I asked him about... anyway, I am also fairly new to the
metalworking potentials, and there's a LOT to learn. But, one step at a
time... so maybe try one with whatever you can get your hands on. Research
around your community for places that can offer a safe and useful setting
for you to learn, whether it is formalized or not, if you can do the
homework the crucial bits are well-documented and so much of the rest comes
from experience, trying.

Well, ramble I may, but to answer your question: foil. If you want to
most-immediately make a metal glove, grab some tin-or-aluminum foil and form
it around your hand. There you go... then you can work up to sheet metal...
or start thicker and forge down some bar stock, real blacksmithing ;)
Either way, I assure you a great time if you stick with it. Then again,
most of the other folks here have way better advice than me, but I'll still
speak up. Thanks for asking :)

cheerio,

Ben
