The holdfast I use the most is made from a pair of square jawed vice
grips. I cut one side of the jaws off and welded on a tube to fit my
hardy hole. this has a u-shape welded on where it goes thru the anvil
to cinch it down with a wedge. Then is just works as a vice grip on the
anvil face, adjustable to size etc. If that description doesn't work, I
could send you a pic.
