Well jeez, Frosty, my summer is getting crowded, what with -- count
them -- three social events formal enough to require clean jeans.  Art
opening at the beach today, Maritime Blacksmiths' meet on Sunday.
Visitors next month.

Usual summer stuff, y'know.  Practicing up for a demo, weeding the
garden, watching tomatoes ripen, trying to outsmart the colony of rats
that's moved into the compost heap, picking raspberries, putting
firewood into the woodshed, eating salad and broccoli soup, making
pesto.

The hummingbirds love the scarlet runner beans, the sparrows, robins
and finches love the birdbath, the chipmunks love the raspberries
until we live-trap and relocate them.

Forty years here and if we had a week of 80+F days in August, that was
a heat wave. It's been over 80 here most days for a fortnight.  Last
year there were two 80 degree days in *April*, unheard of.  I think our
beer consumption might soar this year, up to three cases from two.

Gotta go pick some greens and basil for that salad...
