Thanx, sounds more precision than a treadle hammer

Ron,

The kick press has more control, you can adjust the strike force by moving
the weight, it is real easy to adjust the length of the stroke by setting
the stop adjustment, you can set up tooling to use it as a shear, break, or

punch. Since mine isn't set up yet I have a lot to learn about it's uses.

The treadle hammer has a longer stroke and more clearance around the dies.
Mine is 15 years old and is pretty sloppy because I have used it a lot. So
the only way to do precision work is with handled tools or spring swages.
The strike force control is all in your leg.

I have a small arbor press but haven't found many uses for it. It is mainly

used to bend collars.

Is there an advantage over a treadle hammer?

It's kind of like an arbor press, except instead of an arm you pull down, it

has an arm/lever that extends under the table that you push with your foot.
There is a heavy weight that can be moved up or down the lever to increase
or decrease the force of the stroke.
